In the year of 2007, an indie band called MGMT from Brooklyn, NY pulled out their debut album “Oracular Spectacular” under the mainstream Sony/Columbia record label. The acid album title does show listeners the best promo and preview for the entire 12 songs in this album.It's like the band roams through the whole universe to represent the new rock genre , and sends us what those credit’s so called ” neo-psychedelic ”.

Maybe the art school backgrounds have forced the 2 core members in MGMT, Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser to start thinking outside the box of 60's acid rock. “Being different or even individual”is just nothing but a huge compliment in the music scene of indie rock. Sadly, the one who embraces and promotes the trend is always over the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, in the U.K.

Extensive use of overtone in “Oracular Spectacular” pumps up the retro sounds of disco. You will easily get fascinated with their magic tricks. Only with 2 people, they can effortlessly mix and play electronica/synth pop together. In their early gigs, they recorded few vocal tracks and electro synthesizer sounds in MAC before they rocked the crowds. It shows us how“the new kids on the block”have great instrument managing skills.

With promises from NME and SPIN, also do not forget those hipsters dancing in the local clubs. They made MGMT what they are today, blowing away“the big brother” and overwhelming “the big apple”.
